This week I have been working on trigonometry during maths time. Trigonometry is a great challenge for me and I have really enjoyed working with Mr Wood. Trigonometry was fun to learn and it made me look forward to maths time. I had to make a DLO to prove I understood it and knew what I was doing and I was going to present in assembly but we ran out of time. Here is my DLO on how to do trigonometry.

We are part of an experiment to see how connected New Zealanders are. We have to write a letter to a New Zealander of our choice. The we have to pass the letter on to a random person with the instruction to pass it onto someone who might know the person the letter is addressed too. I have chosen the black sticks captain Sophie Pascoe as my curious New Zealander because she has been to the olympics. I am going to give my letter to the my friend Ricky Lee and hoping she will pass it on .Sophie Frances Pascoe is a New Zealand para-swimmer. She has represented New Zealand at three Summer Paralympic Games from 2008, winning a total of nine gold medals and six silver medals, making her New Zealand's most successful Paralympian.

She has competed for the New Zealand women's national field hockey team, including for the team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Today we had to build a boat that holds the most possible marbels, using a piece of aluminium foil. We had to build two boats and will try to improve your design between the first and the second.
You may only use a single piece of foil to build your boat
You may not touch or adjust your boat once it is in the water
You must add one marble at a time
Review Attempt 1
We got 23 marbles on our boat. I think the boat sunk because the weight of the marbles put pressure on the foil and made it sink. Next time I would make the foil thicker and make the boat bigger so you can spreed the weight more. The other boats I think were to small and the weight was not spreed out so I think that's why they sunk. The ideas that worked were having the weight spreed out and having the marbles below the water worked too.
We continued to make dips so the marbles don't move and and the weight will be split between the gaps. The strength would be the weight would be evened out. The weakness could be it rips and the marbles fall out. This time we got 27 marbles. It got too heavy to hold the marbles up using foil.
My favourite part of this activity was working with other people outside of my comfort zone and coming up with boat ideas. I think we did this because computers have to change and evolve all the time and make the computers better and they have to solve problems all the time.
Here is our design and plan

Today we had to do the marble run. We had a meter of tape and two newspapers to use as well. We had to create a ramp. We had to put the marble in the top and let it run until the friction on the carpet stops the marble or the energy in the marble runs out. We also did this yesterday. The aim was to hit the bottle or get close to get points. Here is a video of today attempt
